DCRB 1D5

If the other title information includes a statement of responsibility or an element belonging to another area, and the element is an inseparable part of the other title information according to one or more of the conditions enumerated in 1B1, transcribe it as such.

Constitutiones legitime seu legative regionis Anglicane : cu[m] subtilissima interpretatione Johannis de Athon

(Statement of responsibility transcribed as part of other title information because of genitive case ending)

AACR2 1.1E4

If the other title information includes a statement of responsibility or the name of a publisher, distributor, etc., and the statement or name is an integral part of the other title information, transcribe it as such.

The devil’s dictionary [GMD] : a selection of the bitter definitions of Ambrose Bierce

Robert Owen’s American legacy [GMD] : proceedings of the Robert Owen Bicentennial Conference, Thrall Opera House, New Harmony, Indiana, October 15 and 16, 1971

Comparison:

The two rules say essentially the same thing, except that DCRB appears to be somewhat more inclusive (includes any other element rather than just statement of responsibility or publisher information). DCRB uses the language "inseparable part" instead of AACR2’s "integral part".

Comments:

None.

Recommendations:

Replace "inseparable" with "integral."
