The Face of the Moon: Galileo to Apollo.

Exhibition catalog by William B. Ashworth, Jr. Bibliographic information and exhibit preparation by Bruce Bradley.

Kansas City, Missouri: Linda Hall Library, 1989.

[8], 45, [3] p., illustrated.

In a thorough presentation, Ashworth provides detailed entries explaining historical context and bibliographical significance of the rare books and maps on exhibit, along with commentary on technical and artistic aspects of each illustration. The engaging illustrations of the moon, often close-ups of specific sections of larger exhibition items, engender both an aesthetic and intellectual response, reinforcing the points of the narrative. A fascinating treatment of an unusual topic.

Printed by the Lowell Press, Kansas City, Missouri. Catalog produced in conjunction with an exhibition held October 13, 1989 — February 28, 1990. Division Two Winner, 1991. Exhibited courtesy of the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, The University of Texas at Austin. (TS)
