| This exhibition documented a mysterious case which involved kidnapping, prostitution, and perjury. The flurry of print around the unfolding events reflected a startling range of prejudices on female virtue, social class, ethnic minorities (gypsies, in this case), and the legal system, all of which still sound very familiar today. The dense text is printed on the back of the poster for the exhibition. Designed by Brenda Slayer from a concept by David Warrington. Printed by Puritan Press, Nashua, NH. Catalog produced in conjunction with an exhibition held January 12 — March 31, 1987, Harvard Law School Library, Langdell Hall. Division Three Winner, 1988. Exhibited courtesy of the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, The University of Texas at Austin, and LSU Libraries, Louisiana State University. (ST) |
