| A stately document commemorating an important event, this catalog provides history and commentary about the University Library interlaced with a checklist of items adding embellishment to the narrative. Official records, as well as diaries, letters, portraits, and acquisitions from the period are used to weave a history of the institution. The design is elegant and classical, as befits the topic. Sepia illustrations are printed on ivory paper, with complementary accents provided by section titles printed in brown. Exceptionally beautiful foldout illustrations reproduce architectural drawings of the north and west elevations of the "New Library" c. 1890-1891. Catalog designed by Veronica Fisher. Print production by Fisher Litho Arts, Ltd. Printed on recycled paper. Catalog produced in conjunction with an exhibition held June 24 — October 17, 1992, Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, University of Toronto. Division Two Winner, 1993. Exhibited courtesy of the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, The University of Texas at Austin. (TS) |
