Leab Awards 2011: Entry Form for Printed Exhibition Catalogs and Brochures
Printed catalogs and brochures that were published between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010 and that represent exhibitions that were in progress before 31 August 2009 at U.S. or Canadian library or archival institutions (including independent and public libraries and archives and those associated with colleges, universities, historical societies, and museums) are eligible. For more information, see the Leab Awards Guidelines and Rules for Submissions.
Cost information is required for all catalogs and brochures. Catalog submissions are sorted by the Committee into three divisions (expensive, moderately expensive, and inexpensive) based on the production costs as outlined in the entry form, the criteria for the divisions being defined year by year according to the range of costs of the catalogs submitted. The Committee appreciates that some institutions may not be able to analyze production costs at the fullest level of detail represented in the form, but more information facilitates this process. Exhibition brochures (which are made available to the public for free or at a maximum retail price of $1.00) will be judged as a single category.
Four (4) copies of the catalog or brochure, together with four (4) copies of the form, must be submitted for judging, and will not be returned. Catalogs and brochures become part of depository collections, available for public consultation, at the Grolier Club (New York City), the University of Texas, Austin, and the Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley.
Institutions that sponsor winning exhibition catalogs and brochures will receive award certificates at the 2010 American Library Association Annual Conference in Washington, DC. Each Leab Award winner will be encouraged, but not required, to submit an additional copy of its winning catalog or brochure, with purchasing information, for use in promoting both the publication and the Leab Awards at various RBMS functions.
The deadline (postmark or shipping date) for submitting catalogs or brochures for the 2011 awards is 15 October 2010.
