  1. Web Site
  2. RBMS Electronic Discussion List

1. Web Site

Comment: The RBMS Web site is principally intended to distribute official information about RBMS, its membership, its activities, and its preconferences. Such information includes, but is not limited to, general information about the section; committee reports, rosters, drafts, agendas, and other documents; the RBMS Manual, the Preconference Manual; section directories, Preconference and ALA Conference information; and Guidelines, Standards, and other publications.

The RBMS Web Editor(s), appointed by the Vice-Chair/Chair-elect based on the recommendations of the RBMS Publications Committee, will be responsible for collecting, marking up, and mounting official documents and information of general interest to the rare books and special collections community, as requested by RBMS officers and committee, task force, and discussion group chairs.

Coordination: With the RBMS Executive Committee, chairs of committees and discussion groups.

Note: RBMS Web site recognized as official section Web site at Washington, D.C. Midwinter Meeting, 1997.

2. RBMS Electronic Discussion List

Comment: RBMS is the official name of the section's electronic discussion list. Its purpose is to serve as a convenient means of communication for matters relating to section business. The list is unmoderated and open to anyone who wishes to subscribe; subscription information is maintained on the RBMS Web site.

The list administrator is appointed by and responsible to the Publications Committee.

Coordination: With the RBMS Executive Committee, chairs of committees and discussion groups, and the host site (ALA).

Note: RBMS electronic discussion list approval voted at the New York Annual Meeting, 1996. For the record, ExLibris is an electronic news and discussion group for those interested in rare books, manuscripts, special collections, and librarianship in special collections. ExLibris has been associated with RBMS over the years through individuals in charge of it, but is not the official section discussion list.
