Deadlines: Photo-ready printer's copy must be submitted for publication to ACRL Headquarters by the middle of March and by the middle of October. An annual report is due to the ACRL Publications Committee at annual conference.

Coordination: With the publications officer at ACRL Headquarters, RBMS Executive Committee, chairs of committees and discussions groups, the editor of RBML, and the ACRL Publications Committee.

Practices and procedures: The conduct of the newsletter is guided by the ACRL Policy on Section Newsletters (see ACRL Guide to Policies and Procedures).

Experience recommends: The "Directory" of the section is an essential tool for the editor. Consult the leadership group of the section for information and help in order to produce an accurate and timely newsletter. Try to get copy submitted in electronic form.

2. RBM

Comment: RBM is a publication of ACRL, the cost of which is not included in any membership fee; it requires a separate subscription. RBMS members were instrumental in the founding of the journal and continue to lend support to it. The RBM editor is a member ex officio of the RBMS Publications Committee, and reports regularly at meetings of the Publications Committee and at other RBMS meetings held during the ALA Midwinter Meetings and Annual Conference. Although RBM is an ACRL publication, the RBMS chair schedules the RBM Editorial Board meetings in order to avoid conflicts with other RBMS committees. In 1999 ACRL granted a petition of the Editorial Board to change the name of the journal from Rare Books and Manuscripts Librarianship (RBML) to RBM, reflecting a proposed widening of the focus of the journal to include articles on issues other than those directly related to special collections librarianship.

Practices and procedures: Guided by the RBM "Operating Manual."
