Task Force committees are appointed for the performance of special, temporary assignments such as development of a standard or guideline. Note that such committees were formerly designated "Ad Hoc," but in keeping with current ACRL practice, they are now designated as "Task Forces." A list of past RBMS Ad Hoc committees appears in RBMS Ad Hoc Committees (Section XII).

1. Responsibilities of Committee Chairs and Members

The responsibilities of committee chairs and members of Task Force committees are the same as those of standing committees.

2. Digitization of Special Collections Task Force

Charge: To explore the feasibility of developing guidelines or other resources to aid those setting policies and procedures for the digitization of special collections and to consider whether a standing committee, discussion, or interest group ought to be formed to provide an ongoing forum to address issues related to digital special collections.

3. RBMS Task Force Committee on Core Competencies in Special Collections Librarianship

Charge: To study the question of core competencies for special collections librarians and prepare a set of recommended guidelines

4. ALA/SAA Joint Statement on Access Review Task Force

Charge:To review, update, and revise the 1994 ALA/SAA Joint Statement on Access to Original Research Materials.

5. Transfer Guidelines for General Collections Materials Task Force

Charge: To review and update current the ACRL Guidelines on the Selection and Transfer of Materials from General Collections to Special Collections (last revised 1999) in accordance with ACRL policies and procedures for the renewal and approval of such guidelines.

6. Guidelines for Borrowing and Lending Special Collections Material Task Force

Charge: To review, update, and revise the 2004 revised Guidelines for the Interlibrary Loan of Rare and Unique Material; and to review, update, and revise the 2005 revised Guidelines for Borrowing and Lending Special Collections Material for Exhibition, combining these two documents into a single set of guidelines for borrowing and lending rare and unique materials and special collections material.
